A magnificent burden of rock n’ roll. Nothing has been compromised and no detail spared when expanding the Marshall heritage of big stage performance to the individual enjoyment of good music.  

Background & Purpose:
For the past ten years we have been taking this rock n’ roll heritage and distilling it into a line of headphones and speakers to inspire a new set of Marshall devotees. Now, we are looking for an experienced Conceptual Copywriter, a master storyteller, who understands the power of strong, engaging creative to connect with and inspire our target audiences with a digital first mindset and approach. Together with the Creative Team you will be securing our world class marketing campaigns in line with brand and business goals.

The Conceptual Copywriter is a senior and key role in the central brand team and is together with the strategic creative team obsessed about all things digital, at every consumer touchpoint. Together with the creative team this role is responsible for bringing our creative strategies to life by conceptualizing and developing campaigns and ideas that effectively builds the desired brand position in our key target groups minds and accelerates the brand towards our vision.

Through positive collaboration and influencing, you will work closely with multiple stakeholders from marketing and creative leadership to operational and production partners streamlining creative development, ensuring the brand vision executes successfully. You’ll play a key role in championing our brand tone of voice across our organisation. You’ll inspire colleagues and stakeholders to understand the importance of a consistent brand tone of voice and messaging and help to bring it to life consistently across all our creative touchpoint.

What you’ll do

  • Come up with ideas, big strategic ideas. Ideas that can live in any medium, an integral, strategic and driving force in the conceptual and creative development of our campaigns
  • Manage the workload and performance of the team to ensure that all content/copy deadlines are met to Marshall’s standards
  • Based on briefs from the Marketing & Communication team, have holistic ownership for writing Marshall’s tone of voice and marketing copy for all channels.
  • Work collaboratively with the Creative Director, Art Directors, designers, agency partners, external resources, copy, category partners to produce transformative storytelling executions and experiences that reflect and elevate brand’s DNA and standards.
  • Composing and crafting engaging copy for other brand & marketing communications, across all touch-points.
  • Be a brand champion, ensuring brand values and positioning are consistently maintained within our busy studio environment and beyond.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough, up-to-date knowledge and awareness of Marshall products, services, audiences and business priorities ensuring copy is accurate, includes necessary terms and conditions and is sensitive to different audience needs.
  • Working with Creative Development Team ensure copy for new products to describe them in the most effective, customer benefit led way.
  • Take an overall view of all written marketing communications to ensure consistency of style and tone
  • Adopt a flexible, enthusiastic and driven approach to achieving the financial goals of the business. 

You will report to our Creative Director for Marshall.

You probably have the following experiences & skills

  • 5+ years’ relevant experience in creative copywriting – agency, freelance or in-house, with portfolio showcasing comprehensive (British) English work.
  • Demonstrated experience in composing and crafting engaging copy for campaigns and other brand & marketing communications, across all touch points with a digital first approach
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of principles and best practice in creating and implementing messaging and tone of voice guidelines
  • Experience of working closely with Art Directors, designers and videographers to generate ideas and concepts collaboratively, resulting in outstanding creative work that works across the creative disciplines
  • Experience of managing large-scale brand tone of voice and messaging implementation across an organisation
  • Experience delivering workshops or training sessions
  • Understanding of and the ability to direct all aspects of creative: copy, imagery, design, retail, video and social content.  
  • Strong relationship building skills including the ability to identify, develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships at all levels – gaining respect and influencing outcomes
  • An open and approachable style of working, promoting collaboration across teams and functions
  • Knowledge of audience insight, tailoring brand executions to meet audience needs whilst remaining true to the brand and understanding of the full consumer journey and is focused on connecting all consumer touch points  
  • Strong project and time management skills, ability to prioritise, work under pressure and manage conflicting deadlines
  • Budget management skills
  • Love of great creative and keen eye for detail
  • Proven presentation skills and a track record of successfully pitching in concepts to leadership  
  • Proactive, with a can-do attitude, solutions focussed
  • Experience in people management would be an advantage but not necessary.
