Creative Engineer Urbanears 🎧

About the position

About the position

At Zound we are driven by consumer-focused design and insight-centric innovation. Harnessing consumer, design and business insights, we develop products that are needed, loved and remembered through the exciting brands in audio electronics: Urbanears, adidas, Marshall.

The world of audio is changing - In the last decade, our products have gone from simple wired products to connected devices and complex systems. Speakers, headphones and audio accessories are turning into a high-tech industry. Urbanears is an audio lifestyle brand driven by progressive values, and minimalist design and inspired by current movements in fashion, art and music. Our philosophy is simple: clean aesthetics, user-friendly features and heavy attention to detail.

Right now, we need to strengthen our Urbanears team with a Creative Engineer, who will focus on elevating and securing the technical feasibility of our products and translating creative design concepts into innovative hardware and software solutions.

What you’ll do

In your role as a Creative Engineer, you will bring the Urbanears brand to the next level by influencing how our products and technology come together in one integrated vision. You will impact the overall perceived quality of Urbanears products and drive innovation of mechanical structures. The role is based in Stockholm.

  • You will translate design intent into efficient engineering solutions.
  • Conduct engineering reviews to verify the feasibility of mechanical and functional solutions before implementation.
  • Plan & build prototypes to verify concepts and ideas.
  • Analyse and test and produce yield results, and if needed change the design to reach targets, especially on A-surface quality and ergonomics.
  • Prepare material for internal engineering review of mechanical systems in collaboration with the project teams.
  • Own technical documentation, and develop CAD design with the project teams and manufacturing partners.
  • Review and approve DFA and DFM including mold flow analysis from suppliers.
  • Be the interface between the product team and our ODM partners within the scope of mechanical engineering and collaborate closely with our team in Shenzhen, China.
  • Together with the quality team, you will define a test plan from the very start and follow up on product quality after launch to ensure consistency and secure learnings.

A problem solver that questions the status quo and likes to work in a fast-paced team environment where ideas can come from anyone and all partake in creative exploration.
