Anders Olsson

Product Manager

Meet Anders Olsson, Product Manager for adidas sports.

We want to be the best sports headphone brand in the world and we’re going to use each new headphone release to take us a step nearer.

As product manager I’m responsible for our portfolio of adidas sports products. It’s my role to build the business case and initiate the concept phase and then follow the product right through to end of its life, bringing in different competencies when needed.

I spend half my time on operational stuff – responding to issues, answering questions, just being there to support the team. The other 50 percent, I work on strategy – looking ahead at trends, market data, next generation products.

When I started at Zound in 2014 I was a technical project manager, working on Bluetooth and WIFI speakers for Marshall and Urbanears. Then I moved across to adidas and became product manager. As a project manager I made sure products got made. Now I make sure products are a success.

For me personally, it’s the perfect role. I’ve always played and loved sports. Now I get to combine this with my passion for consumer electronics. And working with adidas is inspirational. It’s a great match as we’re both design driven and “consumer obsessed”.

Not long ago we had a blank sheet of paper. Now we’ve just launched two headphones in two different categories. The feedback’s been beyond great. When you’ve been working with a product every day for eighteen months it’s easy to get blind and lose sight of the bigger picture. So, it feels amazing to get such a great reception. It’s been a real team effort – everybody’s worked so hard.

Now we’re looking ahead, working on a new adidas Sports product. We’re also taking what we’ve learnt from the market and iterating for the second generation. There’s so much potential for this line.

Working at Zound is all about the people. I’ve never worked anywhere with such a diverse mix of people with so many different competencies. Everybody’s so passionate and always pushing to do the best they can. There’s never a day when I don’t want to go to work.
